One of the most important moments in any birthday party is opening the presents...
...which I did on the terrace while everyone tucked into wine and the aperitifs; vol au vents, a variety of things on cocktail sticks and even more things on crackers.
Then to the meal itself...
...the first course being our own home made Salmorejo soup...
...served with the traditional Iberican jamón and chopped hard boiled egg.
Second course was my favourite, Beef Wellington served with new potatoes and Margaret's ratatouille.
To accompany the dessert course Cava is served...
...which went very well with Margaret's home made Bread and Butter pudding.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal...
...which was then followed by a piece of Birthday cake, from the bakers in nearby Valdealgorfa. The cake was whisky flavoured...
...which we further enhanced by adding a little more whisky as it was served!
What a combination! Even the menu worked well being a mixture of traditional Spanish and English dishes as well as the Scotch whisky.
What a party!
Well, you're only 67 once in a lifetime!
