¡Fiesta!

A great start to the village fiesta week is Maria's party which she has every year to celebrate La Asunción de la Beata Virgen Maria - the day that God raised the Blessed Virgin Mary to heaven.

As usual there was a vast range of food...

...with enough remaining for at least another 16 people to satisfy themselves!

I found a new favourite with the dessert which was Maria's version of an apple-crumble - delicious!

The following day the village fiesta started on the 16th...

...with the usual chorizda in the co-operativa where everyone BBQs their sausages on the small bonfires, eats them in a chunk of bread and washes them down with red wine.

The visiting band were in fine form.

On Saturday we had Joy and Kevin here for lunch...

...then on Sunday we went to the concierto in the church given by the band and singers from Valdealgorfa, a neighbouring village.

The acoustics in the church were superb...

...and the band and singers were incredibly good covering a wide range of music and songs.
