Valencia

So this was the last afternoon of our holiday and we were making good time.

We were just north of Valencia on the A7 motorway and contemplating getting to our house at Vinaròs for a late lunch when...

...we got a puncture, pulled over and phoned the breakdown service. Even though our car is a 4x4 in an effort to save weight it doesn't carry a spare tyre, only an aerosol puncture repair kit which isn't going to work when the tyre has been shredded in the deceleration from 120 kph.

The car was taken to a garage to be looked at tomorrow morning, this was Sunday, and we were taken to a hotel then headed out to find something to eat in the nearby Centro Comercial El Saler.

On Monday morning we contacted the garage and they informed us they would order replacement tyres, we ended up with 2, which would arrive on Tuesday and we could pick the car up on Tuesday afternoon.

The moral here is that if you are going to breakdown, make sure it is near a wonderful city like Valencia.

Although we've visited Valencia on several occasions, there is always more to see.

This is such a fascinating city with the contrast between the traditional and ultra modern architecture.

You can't beat traditional Spanish food!

What a wonderful experience and a great but unexpected end to the holiday.
