XVI marcha por caminos de Torre del Compte

It has been a lovely fine day although rather windy.

The 15 km walk finished at the polideportivo with a rather excellent fideuá...

...made, as usual, by the Cretas Catering Company. Another wonderful day.

Calaceite olive oil fayre

We went to the Feria, Fayre, at Calaceite this afternoon...

...but the actual village was more interesting, (to us), with wonderful barley stick columns on the church.

No downpipe needed - just don't stand under this when it rains

At last, the Feria.

A colourful group of chickens going cheep.

Poppies on the roadside coming back.

Our ermita from the other side.

Last day - Andratx and Port d'Andratx

To the market at Andratx and they have an orange shaped fresh orange juice maker!

What other shape should it be?

Morning coffee time...

...and once again there are so many plants...

...including these wonderful Birds of Paradise.

The local church was picturesque.

And then down to Port d'Andtratx...

...which is basically another wonderful cove...

...and a natural fishing harbour.

The local ceramics echo this...

...as well as repeating what goes on in the countryside.

Lunch today was superb! Margaret had the Greek salad...

...I had the fish soup...

...Margaret had the fish...

...I had the chicken then we both had a dessert course. Simple food, well prepared, 13€ per person.

After lunch, a walk along the front...

...back to the car park, then back to our hotel...

...passing the local church...

...and we meet up with our friends Richard and Debbie for a drink or two.

Back to Bellver

Not to be put off by our experience at Castillo Bellver the day before we drove there again only this time up to the castle car park itself rather than parking at the entrance gates.

We had an enjoyable morning coffee knowing that we would be able to enter the castle after. The fortified tower is known as a donjon and is connected to the castle by a high bridge.

It was another grey day however with the possibility of rain...

...just as long as it wasn't going to rain enough to fill up that moat!

Bellver Castle is one of the few circular castles in Europe and is unique in Spain.

Inside the castle was even more impressive than the outside with Gothic semi-circular arches.

Since 1976 the castle has housed the History Museum of the city of Palma.

There were crowds of people there - we had to wait a long time to take some of these photos.

In the centre of the courtyard is a well.

There are great panoramic views from the ramparts.

To finish off the day we visited the beach to the south east of Palma...

...but it was still overcast although the rain, apart from a few drops, had kept away.
