Les Sorts, Rossell

The village of Rossell is a very pleasant 35 minutes drive inland from Vinaròs. It nestles in the foothills of the Parc Natural de la Tinença de Benfassà, which is at the southern end of the range of mountains Els Ports.

On the main road, as you come into the village, is the restaurant Les Sorts which looks like a house rather than a restaurant.

Inside, it is modern, clean and attractive.

Aperitifs come as boquerones...

...followed by a salad between the 2 of us.

Margaret went for a most substantial soup with chick peas, potato, pieces of pork and morcilla, a sausage of black pudding...

...and I had the entremeses, a plate of hors d'oeuvres.

Next up, chuletas de cordero, lamb chops, for Margaret...

...and merluza, hake, for me.

For postre, melon balls for Margaret...

...and tarta de chocolate for me.

All of this was accompanied by a bottle of vino tinto from the local Terra Alta region and a bottle of water.

Below, is a painting in the dining room of the village ...

...and in the photo below, the actual village as seen from the dining room.

A very good value meal for €11 each.
