Our garden's blooming!

One of our Agave Americana is flowering. The only problem is that from the ground we do not get to see these fantastic flowers as they are near the top of a 10 metre high stalk.

The solution is to put the camera on the end of a very long "selfie stick"...

...so that the camera can see the flowers which have not actually blossomed yet.

The plant puts so much energy into producing this enormous flowering stalk that it becomes weakened and then dies. Don't worry though as during it's life it has produced many offshoots and these will have more room to develop.

Other spectacular blossom is currently from our "Happiness tree".

This is not it's real name and online identification has produced either "Elder" or "Flowering Dogwood" as possible solutions but both seem unlikely.

However, we call it our "Tree of Happiness" which suits it.

Also this morning we concluded that some creature had found it's way behind the clock which I made on a mosaic tile course a few years ago and which is positioned on our terrace.

This was evident from the "droppings" on the ground beneath it.

There were 3 bats which hopefully have now found a new home nearby or maybe they just waited until we had cleaned up and then moved back in again!
