Olmedilla de Alarcón

I always look for somewhere around half way down the country, a little off the direct route, to stay overnight.

It is possible to drive right down the country in one go but we are on holiday so it is better to take it easy.

Every year even though may do a similar route I find somewhere different to stay.

This year I chose the village of Olmedilla de Alarcón, near Cuenca in Castilla-La Mancha and the wonderful Valdemora Casa de Campo.

Although the building has been recently renovated the original dates back hundreds of years.

One of it's most striking features is the entrance lobby which has murals...

...depicting life in the region during the seasons of the year.

The village is very small and Valdemora is virtually in the Plaza Mayor opposite the Church and the Ayuntamiento which is next door.

The poppies and other spring flowers are abundant.

The trees and the fields are just so English!

Down the camino is the Embalse de Alarcón.

Back to the Casa...

...it's time for evening meal...

...prepared by our very good host Pedro...

...followed by some relaxation time in the lounge.
